5 Tips to Promote Flowering in your Roses this Autumn

5 Tips to Promote Flowering in your Roses this Autumn

  1. Fertilize your roses: Fertilize your roses with a balanced fertilizer that has equal parts of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. This will help promote healthy growth and flowering. We recommend Sudden Impact For Roses.
  2. Water your roses: Roses need consistent moisture to thrive. Water deeply at the base of the plant, making sure not to get the leaves wet. Avoid overhead watering, as this can lead to fungal diseases.
  3. Mulch your roses: Apply a layer of organic mulch, such as lucerne, pea straw or sugar cane mulch, around the base of your roses. This will help retain moisture in the soil, suppress weeds, and regulate soil temperature. Our favourite is lucerne.
  4. Control pests and diseases: Keep an eye out for pests and diseases, such as aphids, black spot, and powdery mildew. Treat any problems promptly with organic or chemical controls.
  5. Deadhead spent blooms: Remove spent blooms throughout the growing season from your roses to encourage new growth and prolong the blooming season.
